Title: Stir plate - to heat or not to heat?
Post by: Jonnycheech on October 25, 2014, 10:24:26 AM
Looking at investing in a stir plate over the next while and wondering what are peoples thoughts on heated plates vs non-heated?

I presume it's preferable to have a constant temp to produce consistent cell yields time after time?

Also I see a lot of info on DIY plates. Has anybody ever made a heated version?

I wouldn't bother. Keep it in the same location where you ferment

you want the starter at room temp thats the temp yeast grow at best, and constant temp is always better but not gonna make a major difference
