Title: Weyermann malt
Post by: admin on October 30, 2014, 01:45:23 PM
Just crushed a 25kg bag of Weyermann pilsner malt. Quite a lot of stones in it, more than I've ever had in a bag of MCI. Completely unexpected.

I had one jam my mill up the last brew day. Might be the reason the chuck broke on my makita. PITA!

New makita now & mill is working fine today. In the middle of crushing 100kg of weyermanns wheat malt with it now haha

Cool grain silo.Do you have a grist case to put the crushed grain into before transfer to the mash ton. :)

Eeh just looking around the pic and am thinking to myself that whoever laid out the brewery did not do an A to Z of where to lay out everything from beginning to end :(.

You can't see the layout there at all. That's a pic of the hopper being used a hopper for my Homebrew mill. We are out of wheat and could only get whole wheat today from hbw so had to crush it some way. Rather than do it 10kg at a time we threw the lot in the hopper to feed down to my little mill.

On a normal day that hopper would be raised with the fork lift & unloading 350kg into the mash tun below.

Silo and crusher coming soon so will be crushing MCI pale fresh every day.
