Title: Cleaning/sanitation question
Post by: Gugs44 on November 07, 2014, 08:06:46 PM
Today I received my cornys and really looking forward to the kegging set up. My question is do I really need star San or could I do what I've done with bottles?? I use sterinova tablets to clean everything and then a good rinsing with clean water or with bottles dishwasher without rinse aid and never a problem....could I do this with my kegs or is star San a must have??

Steriliser tablets that are added to water, basically like Milton coz it doesn't have to be rinsed but can do with cooled boiling water

Yeah exactly,  I rinse a few times to get rid of the bleachy smell/taste

Does it have a honk off it like Milton?  I wonder how folks use it as its fierce strong, will it dissipate with airing?

I've had no issues with it re smell or taste after a good rinsing with clean water, have used Klorsept also but they are a bit strong for homebrewing needs, mostly for cleaning after infections r bodily fluid spillages, they do leave a real bleachy smell and I would imagine quite dangerous if anyway ingested

Good info here.  Also got a corny and needed to know how to clean/sanitise it.  Thanks!
