Title: Keeping batch warm during fermentation
Post by: DoubleG on November 24, 2014, 04:17:10 PM
Hi All,

Running out of room to keep some of my fermenters in my gaff and considering moving them outside.
The only issue is that its pretty cold out there. Question I have is are any of those Brewbelts or warmers designed for outside use. If not is there any ideas you guys have for keeping a batch around the 18 degree mark while its sitting out the back during Winter? Has anyone tried it?

Thanks

Stack them? 2 on the bottom, and one on top in between the two below?

you could try foil backed insulation around the fermenter with the foil turned inwards so to reflect in the heat generated by the fv and a block of styrofoam under the fv. A red lamp overhead of fv and thermostat set at the desired temperature should take care of it then with a little wiring etc.

I see the OP was a month ago, did you get sorted?
Assuming outside means a shed...
Make up a 'fridge' from kingspan. Seal it with duct tape.
Run power to the shed via uncoiled extension lead.
