Title: Beersmith and Hop AA adjustment
Post by: ronnieb on January 08, 2015, 10:20:42 PM
Hello,

A quick question about Beersmith, someone maybe able to give me a quick sanity check.

I will be brewing a recipe in the coming weeks which has Fuggles (4.5AA) and Styrian Golding (5.00AA) in it.
My Fuggles and SG have an AA of 5.3 and 6.2 respectively.

I entered them in BS at the stated times according to the recipe and obviously the end IBU rating is much higher than the original recipe.  Using the Adjust Bitterness tool and entering in my target IBU it scales the hop quantities automatically.

I assume this is the right way to go?

I normally just adjust the bittering addition to match my desired IBUs. Sounds like the Adjust Bitterness tool adjusts all your additions? Sounds fine to me.

Howdy, aye it adjusts all the additions.

I usually edit the AA to what the packet says by double clicking on the hop addition and changing the field.

You can go ingredients and change the AA to whatever your hops are. I usually just do that when I get a new packet of hops.
