Just spotted this (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Home-Brewing-Secrets-Tricks-Journal-ebook/dp/B00JNNU6TK/ref=sr_1_2?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1421945464&sr=1-2&keywords=home+brewing) on Amazon.co.uk last night.  Looks like it's a decent enough guide for beginners, and it's free.
