omearacamping.com but as Ciderhead said they are expensive too. I have been window shopping of late and there really is not much out there for a budget.
114l cooler for 200 anyone? :o

Do you think this soemthing we could order from the us as a group buy? As they appear to be quite cheap in the US. How would I go about this and how much would we need to pay in tax?
Magnethead bought one of these and as far as I remember he paid €100. Then he had to modify it and put in a false bottom. It is exactly like the ones you see the American's use and is a very nice piece of kit.
I was planning on using it with a bazokka strainer but I noticed a few home brew sites doing false bottoms.
any idea how id go about ordering this from the US
Google found a UK supplier : http://www.camping-online.co.uk/igloo-coolers-coleman-cool-boxes/igloo-beverage-cooler
Bit expensive Paul, when you convert it back to euro.

False bottom over a bazooka tube every time If its for a mash tun. I had an awful time with a bazooka mash tun. Very poor efficiency.
I bought myself a 10 gallon igloo beverage cooler today... Now i just need to source a false bottom. If anyone has anylinks to a good flase bottom which fits please let me know. :)
Use Dempseys idea by cutting 1mm slits in a s steel tray from ikea
This is the one I think

I also found this which may be better for an igloo

Regarding coolers, home store and more were great for them last year. Keep a good eye on their seasonal specials with the summer on its way.
At the end of last summer their 60l ones ended up going for about 25 euro. I got mine for 30 ::)
Hi there
Could also use one of these two colanders that are already full of holes.

Where did you get the cooler? UK or US?

@Bruceleesgran - How did you get that delivered to Ireland? And how much was it all in?
parcel motel?
Be careful with the size.
With PM, if it's too big, they hold it in a depot somewhere.
Not necessarily the PM around the corner...
Yeah. Amazon.co.uk don't deliver to Dublin (or rest of Ireland) from that link so suspect it is pm. Wondering how much and what the collection arrangements are.

Nice prices. Also this one has hole for spigot already. http://charlescamping.ie/store/index.php/accessories/cooling/passive-cool-boxes/igloo-legend-40.html (http://charlescamping.ie/store/index.php/accessories/cooling/passive-cool-boxes/igloo-legend-40.html)
Are they good though at that price? Is the lid insulated? Any experience? I'm upgrading from my poorly performing argos yoke that has no insulation in the lid.
That looks like a good price.
Some coolers dont have insulated Lids, you may want/needto fill it - (Not as simple as it sounds)
Seeing as they are sold as coolers and cold air is dense and sinks, they have more insulation lower down.
Yeah. I found out all those points with my current heap of junk. :)
The 10 Gallon Rubbermaid Beverage cooler is 95 plus vat from Brenco in Cork
( Just got the price this morning from them )
anyone interested ?

I'm interested! Will they do a discount?
Good find! I might be interested. My current one is breaking my heart with it's poxy heat retention.
There's a cheaper 'seat top' one there too. What's the difference? Will they both hold the temperature? Once there's 2 on an order it's free shipping.

I think the seat top one is only 5 gallons?

Ouch, they're only $40 in the US!
I've found a place in the North that has the Igloo equivalent for £90. Gonna try get one next week, or get someone to get one for me.

Almost the same price for the Rubbermaid ...
I'm sure if we were buying 4 - 10 of them we could get the price matched by the crowd here ...

You fancy getting a 10 gallon one each and we'll get them delivered?
Sure why not. Count me in!
if its a group buy forming count me in too!
Sorry! I've already ordered. All you need is an order of 2 for free shipping though.

Damun why don't you put up a list, determine interest and start a group buy, I am sure you will get a good deal on 5 or more?
Working on price's from uk and here to see can I get it cheaper or handier and will group buy it when I have prices. I have wanted one for a while as I reckon sparging efficiency would be better.???

Off to the HBC now for a false bottom and I'll be all set. I'll hopefully do my first brew with it tomorrow.

I bought said false bottom also. It works very well in the igloo. One reservation I have with it is the finish could be better. Specifically, it's got some fairly sharp edges on it. I've seen others that are not perforated to the edge which I think is a better design.
Have to agree with you on the finish of the false bottom, but I'm happy now to have a decent mash tun. I was losing on 6-8 degrees in the space of an hour on my old one (cheap Tesco cooler) and that was after insulating it with expanding foam.
split a length of Aquarium tubing.
Run it around the edge.
Will try that Thanks.

Is that safe? PVC at mash temps? I was thinking using a bit of cotton. I reckon it could be useful in terms of clearing the wort as a side effect.

Or not, silicon tubing if you can get it.
