Title: Lower temperature kits?
Post by: ComusLives on January 27, 2015, 06:40:39 PM
My patience (or lack thereof) isn't letting me wait until warmer months to start brewing, since for various reasons using a brewbelt or whatever isn't too much of an option. Can anyone here recommend any beginner-friendly kits (maybe lagers?) that would work in lower temperatures? I mean 11-15 kind of range. I'm aware that I don't have many options here, but any advice on brewing in these kind of temperatures would be much appreciated.

Coopers Pilsner or Craft Range True Pilsner.
They both come with proper lager yeast.
You'll still need temperature control (probably more of it) to keep the temperatures consistent.

Cheers! The temperatures where I'm storing it seem to be fairly consistent, so I'm hoping that'll be ok. What kind of range can these work within without negative effects?

We've had an unusually large number of orders for:

compared to:

Whereas the former requires 10oC to 15oC fermentation temperature range, it ALSO requires CONSTANT temperature. If that can be achieved, its a superb pilsner and true to style.

However, unless you have very stable temps for a couple of weeks (or temp control equipment), chances are you will get a better result with the latter because its a lot more forgiving.
