I purchased the Large Ritchies Mashing and Sparging bag from HBC but it looks very small. I was talking to Shane and he said the bags they do don't get much larger than this.
The dimensions of the Ritchies bag are 25 x 30 x 36cm, would this be a normal size or should I be aiming for something much larger? Has anyone purchased a mashing bag from HBC that they can recommend? or maybe somewhere I could get a larger bag?
I got one during the week and was disappointed with the size as well. It doesn't even fit over the top of a standard fermenter, so it's next to useless from what I can see. The bag is also quite small, so you can't just close it up and throw it in...
Yeah I've the same problem, I didn't know the dimensions before buying and it wont fit over the top of my pot! I should of emailed before, but that's my fault, eager beaver :)
I went for this one after a quick search on EBay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemVersion&item=281477602597&view=all&tid=1282097721018
£12 + £1 p&p, (well, for N.Ireland). Fits round the top of my 32 litre bucket with some to spare.
4 brews done with it now and still as good as new.

Hmm.... Try this link, from the seller's EBay shop:

Although it does look like they only post to UK.

If they only post to the UK you can use http://www.parcelmotel.com/
I did my first BIAB earlier this month and I used this bag from HBC

It fit my peco boiler perfectly
Buy a voile curtain for €4 in Penny's and make a bag or just use as is with the excuses hanging over the boiler.

This might be an option, I'll have to find someone nifty with a sewing machine!

I could exchange the Ritchies one for this, the peco boiler looks a decent size, is there plenty of room for the grains in the bag?
The peco boiler is 32 litres or so. I was a bit reserved as it was my first BIAB so i put 27 litres of water in it then mashed 5kg or so of grains and there was still a good bit of room left for another couple of litres
Hi Acot
I got my bag from brewinabag.co.uk, very fast and professional service... bag is very good quality and washes well in the machine.... I have a large 60 litre plastic kettle and this fits perfectly into it with a good bit of overlap on the side...
Nice guide here by Gary, this is where if found out about brewinabag....

I started off BIAB with the Ritchie's bag; it doesn't fit around my Peco boiler, but I use three clothes pegs to keep it in place - good enough for a 6kg grain bill (I use 20l mashing liquor and sparge with a further 10l). Mottly Brew sell a mashing bag which is big enough to fit a 32l boiler - can't find it on their website, but think it's about €12.
