I'm testing out the final prototype of Brick River Brew's, soon-to-be-released "Brutus" monster CFC chiller. http://brickriverbrew.com/
It uses PEX tubing so it's perfect for HERMS as the water is safe to be used for sparging later. It's like the MAXX version he has but even bigger and for nutty home brewers and nano breweries. -It will be blue rather than the current red offerings.
Like his other chillers it has a spiral wrap that goes around the copper to increase turbulance which gives it near convoluted copper performance for far better pricing; the convoluted chillers are also only 12' long while the Brutus is 20' long which gives it HUGE capacity to chill lots of wort very quickly.
It's typical 1/2" copper on the inside, but then the co-helical wrap around it and for the Brutus model I'm getting that's all run through 1" PEX which lets you push a TON of water through it.
I've got awesome cold water with great water pressure so I hope to run it at full speed through my chugger pump.
I'm using it both for my HERMS HEX AND for whirlpool chilling back into my boil kettle. -It's absolutely perfect for this because it has VERY little restriction and the flow should be as fast as possible; it's also super clog proof.
So excited that the last part of my 2 year build will be done finally!

Yes, I'll post back the results of my testing once I get the thing tested.

Ugg! Just checked the tracking number it will take almost 2 weeks before it gets here so it'll be a while before I can post back results...

-Is this a first-hand account, Will? ;)
Here's a picture of the beast without any of the fittings installed: (https://scontent-b-sea.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/t31.0-8/p843x403/10994071_10153166348431929_3164263817271639478_o.jpg)
