Hi group, new to the forum but as keen as mustard to learn. I have only ever brewed one batch of kit brew and it was terrible so after many years guess what, I have just started another kit. I do hope it turns out better than that of many years ago..
Well Hello any how.
Welcome on board Nibrewer.
You just missed a Belfast club meet last Thursday, but keep an eye on the site for the next one.
What kit are you brewing?
Andy
Thanks for the welcome, it's a Youngs harvest pilsner it will most likely go down the tubes but it's bubbling away in the diningroom so only time will tell.
Where abouts is the meeting held ? Is it in the one place or different spots.
Welcome onboard Nibrewer. The meets are now held in Wetherspoons in Belfast. Previously The Hudson. The Brew days when they happen are a great experience to get some knowledge. Don't be afraid to ask anything on here. They are a very knowledgable bunch with the same goal as you. Making great beer in your garage!
Hi Nibrewer! Good stuff on giving it another go - I think kits these days are much better. I remember making 3 different kits back in my Uni days and they all turned out almost undrinkable!
I will sure ask a lot of questions for sure.
One will be what is the brew day and what takes place at it, I guess that's two questions.
Welcome on board, brewdays are when we as a club brew beer from scratch as a "master class" with participation from everyone. Also a good chance to sample other brews and get some feedback for your own. All in all a good craic with like minded lads/some lasses
Do people meet at members houses, a shed somewhere ? Or in a brewery ?
We have done a couple brew days at different venues, and generally bring our own kit. Brewdays are excellent for showing the process start to finish and in answering questions re the process
I am up for the learning process. I will keep an eye out for them and if I am not working and am invited I would love to attend.
Just on that is there anyone living around Ballynahinch area?
Belated hi and welcome, Nibrewer.
Yeah, like the lads say, we try to run a brewing demo once or twice a year for folks ranging from the complete beginners to those trying to improve part of their process to the ones who just happened to wander into the wrong place at the wrong time and were met by a pile of beards and a weird smell of Bovril.
We're hoping to get another demo going probably mid-March realistically now. Usually on a Saturday and probably back in the Centre (Giros) on Little Victoria Street.
Just remember that no question's a stupid question. We all have to start somewhere.
Cheers,
-Barry
Hi nibrewer!
Speaking from another relatively new member of the Belfast brewers I can say that the meets are really good craic and you will learn a lot. Always constructive feedback given and everyone had to start somewhere so always glad to help.
Really looking forward to a brew day myself.
Welcome to the obsession.
Thanks to all for the kind welcomes. Fingers crossed I will make the next one if I am off.
Shoild we get a brew demo organised then? I can fire up a poll to get some dates out there.

Sure what have you got to lose, Chris :)
What you thinking, mid march onwards?
-Barry
Yeah sounds good - might fire up some April dates too just for the craic! O0
I am on holidays from the 18th March 2015 so might be able to attend. What time of day ?
