Title: BIAB Gear advice
Post by: Beej on February 11, 2015, 11:14:27 AM
Hi, would I be right in thinking that this http://www.mybeerandwine.ie/brew-kettles/190-economy-30-litre-mash-tun.html - with something to keep bag off the bottom (over flame) - and a wort chiller and some insulation for during mashis all I'd need apart from usual FVs and kit equipment to brew AG? (I bought some voile someone recommended from Dunnes for a bag that the missus will knock up.) I usually hack kits or boil a bit of LME with hops (chuck rest of LME/DME into FV direct without boiling) on the stove in a 10L pot along with a few steeped grains (carols/chocolate sect.). Could I even mash without the bag, drain into a FV and then pour back in for boil once grains are out? Thanks.

Probably a bit of a pain to mash, drain, clean. And all the while your wort is losing temperature.

Thanks Q do you mean a pain for mash/drain or BIAB?

Pain to clean the mash tun.

I don't. Really know about BIAB though I use a cooler mash tun.

Yup that should be all you need.

I wouldn't bother with this, too much hassle as Qs said.  If you want to go single vessel just stick to the traditional biab method and you'll do great.
