Title: Water analysis
Post by: oblivious on November 13, 2012, 08:42:06 PM
Hi all

For those who test their water for bicarbonate concentrations, would it be possible to share the result (ppm) and local water source with the Dublin community?   :)

The calcium carbonate numbers that we got from,
Leixlip was 148ppm/L CaCO3,
Celbridge was 128ppm/L CaCO3,
Swords was 150ppm/L CaCO3,
Rathfarnham 34ppm/L CaCO3,

A secret holy well in wexford was 182ppm/L CaCO3.

If you had a bicarbonate reading HCO3,you can convert it to a calcium carbonate reading by dividing it by 1.22,
e.g. 122ppm/L HCO3 = 100ppm/L CaCO3

Great, if people do it regularly it would be nice if the posted the results

This water report is an old one and is useless to us,
it gives the CaCO3 as between 70 and 200. so wide as to make that of no use. Best to get a test kit and test your water at source, i.e. your kitchen tap.
