Title: Pale ale recipe along the lines of Adnans Ghost ship
Post by: benji on March 22, 2015, 09:49:49 AM
Hey peps,

Looking to go for a pale ale similar to Adnans Ghost ship, I had a bottle of it from Aldi some months back and loved it.
Its lightly hoped with a nice lemon citrus background taste, any ideas

Cloning any adnams beer is tricky because a good deal of their flavour profile comes from their house yeast blend. They use two strains in a particular ratio to produce that lovely minerally flavour. The only way to replicate it at home is to harvest yeast from one of their casks, which you can buy online.

Drank this last night and was thinking myself that I'd have a tough time reproducing this one:
It's Citra, but seems to go to the tropical fruit end of the spectrum, rather than the biting grapefruit you get from Jarl and Black's KPA.
