No problems or questions here just a happy brewer.
I was supposed to do a lager yesterday but didn't have enough yeast so I brewed an Irish red, based on caffreys.
According to beersmith I hit all my targets, temp, volume and gravity readings preboil and postboil. Got diwn to pitching temp in less then 30 mins and pitched a rehydrated pk of s-04. less then 12 hrs later she is happily chugging away with a nice kkrausen. Oh and also did a turbo cider with also took off like a train. So just a happy brewer today
:)
Class. Be sure to tell us how it all tastes too in a couple of weeks! :)

Read your post this morning Oh Crap and decided that sounds like a good way to spend the day. I started getting ready to bottle my last batch (6.2% IPA fermented at lager temps, I'll post the recipe if it turns out as well as im hoping). while I was waiting for the dishwasher to finish the bottles I decided to use up the last of my malt. I thought there was 3 or 4 Kg left in the bag but there was only 2Kg when i weighed it. Thats not enough for anything worth the effort I thought? I kept digging and found some DME I forgot was there and a 500g bag of dark brown sugar. Ran some numbers on brewtarget and figured I could probably get 15L of something at around 1.040. That was enough to make me start heating mash water and just run with what I had left. In this spirit I went right to the back of the freezer and found some Target and EKG pellets. That'll do, Leftover pale ale it is.
I ended the day with 40 bottles of IPA in my heated bottle conditioning chamber/corner of the sitting room And 14L @ 1.043 of something like an english bitter in the fermenter from only 2Kg of grain. Having a few of my own citra ipa now before bed and it tastes good.
So, another Happy brewer here this evening. It's contagious ;D
Cheers Oh Crap

I'm having a "Belching Blond" that I messed up while mashing... Tis grand stuff all the same,
I had a very happy brewday yesterday. Ended up way off on the OG, but oh well, fermenting away happily, plus made some use of the spent grain, leading to a happy house all round! :)
Ha those dogs look well pleased. I'd say theres some walking on those 2.
Hah yeah impossible to tire out. The collie is my own, the husky a friends. Both get on like a house on fire, its great.
