Title: New Kit
Post by: HalfCutClub on April 10, 2015, 02:50:05 PM
Just put St.Peters Cream Stout in the FV.  Added 500g of toasted oatmeal and 140g of 81% dark chocolate.  Will be interesting to taste the results.

Anyone tweaked a kit before with good results?

i think garry did an oatmeal st peters hack at some stage (might be wrong on the oatmeal)
I've not used actual chocolate in hacks, just chocolate grain. Not sure how the oil would affect it.

Just bottled the stout.  Smells good, no obvious oil from the chocolate. Will leave for a few weeks before sampling.

Sampled a few bottles over the weekend.  Very pleased with the results.  Poured jet black with a dark tan head.  My guinea pigs reported hints of cherry and raspberry.  Definite presence of the dark chocolate on the back of the tongue.  Felt rich but easy to drink.  I reckon it came at circa 6% so it lends itself to slow sipping, not a session beer.
