I was ordering a part from here yesterday and in trying to get the full value out of the 2kg postage to NI i decided to try this kit as i have never brewed a bitter before besides one failed attempt.Now i have not done a kit like this for quite a while so am wondering what way to knock this up ? I have loads of pale malt,lager malt,some rye malt,some chocolate malt and some crystal malt.Also should i use the kit yeast or go with another choice ? ;D

Got the package yesterday,less than two days from UK to me :o It has been a while since i did a kit brew like this so what is the best way to knock this one up ? I was thinking maybe kit and kilo but instead of dextrose use home made invert sugar and dry hop with Cascade ? ;D
I want to get this kit on this weekend,and it will be bottled. I was thinking of dressing it up a bit,however i have never done this kit before so looking for simple ideas please.I have for grain,pale malt,pilsner malt,chocolate malt,dark crystal malt,rye malt.For hops i have ekg and magnum up the ying yang and i have 100gr Cascade pellets. ;D
I want this one normal to low abv as i have two heavy hitters already down so need something easy drinking.I haven't done a kit in a long time and while i know how to do one i have no idea what to add to this or not. ;D
You would need to mash the pale, pilsner and rye if you want to use any of them. A bit of light crystal or biscuit malt would work for a bitter but you're going into brown ale territory if you add dark or chocolate malt. Up to yourself though!
EKG and cascade would both work in there as well. I'd leave the magnum for bittering another beer just.
I wouldn't go kit& kilo anyway for sure.
If you're looking for an easy drinker I'd probably go with a crystal steep, short boil to sanitize with a little EKG for 5/10 min and a light cascade dryhop.
Keep away from the magnum. if you use the chocolate only use a little.
Greg, what's the best UP price you got on that kit? We have them arriving next week and want to do a bit better.

£9.99stg for the kit,only reason i got it was i was getting the tap for a pressure barrel and i was going to be paying for up to 2kg postage anyway so filled out the order to make it worth while and got it sent PM. ;D

I will need to add some fermentables to complete the kit so what i might do is use the pilsner malt and balance the colour with say 200 gr of crystal and then maybe 15gr EKG at 10mins and maybe 20gr Cascade dry hop. ;D
This is what i ended up brewing in the end last night,volume came out spot on at 23.0litres after kit was added,gravity was a wee bit high at 1050 but what the heck no harm done eh ;D
Just pitched yeast today, and i actually used half a jar of washed yeast from my Muntons Olde Ale brew i did the other week,had it in a sanitized jar in the fridge. ;D

Master Pint Bitter to be bottled today,20 litres,going into 2 litre plastic bottles so how much table sugar do i need for batch priming pr would i be better to prime each 2 litre bottle ? Reason i ask is that last couple batches i bottled and batch primed were kind flat. ???
