Title: Brewday 14th April
Post by: Padraic on April 13, 2013, 11:20:36 AM
So the order fo events will be roughly:

10:00 start heating the water
Mash in (hosted by Rossa & Partridge9)
Kettle building workshop (hosted by Shanna)
Sparge (may contain first wort hops) (Rossa & Partridge9)
Yeast slant making (Shiny & Dan G)
Boiling and hop additions. (Rossa & Partridge9)
Putting some yeast on the slants.(Shiny & Dan G)
Chilling and yeast pitching (Rossa & Partridge9)
We'll probably have a few tasters on the day, and please do feel free to bring along a couple of bottles of your finest!
16:00 head over to the B&C for some refreshments and have some banter, hopefully focusing on the Barrel Project!

Is there anything else we want to happen on the day?

Looks great!

If 2 or 3 lovely volunteers would like to meet me just before 10 at the B&C to help bring boxes of flip tops down that'dbe great. :) will you want regular bottles as well?

I should be able to help you with one box but not much more as I'll probably have all the yeast equipment on my back.

Ill be down earlier but could wander up there to pick them up if we had a break at some stage!

Hopefully you'll get a couple more volunteers!

I'm not sure what our bottle requirements will be on the day, the brewers might want to weigh in?

Will try and be in before 10. I will be driving and will have two passengers if I get in before 10 I will drop up and help with the bottles.

Well lads, that was just a great day. Not only did we see three brews in progress (including seeing the Speidel in action) we got a fantastic demo of yeast slanting.

Last but certainly not least, thanks to Shanna for doing sterling work on my new boiler.

And the beer wasn't bad either... :)

Big thanks to everybody @tog for another great day.  Rossa,  Partridge and helpers for doing the brews. Thanks to Tom for another batch of flip tops.  Shiny and Dan for a great talk and demonstration on Slanting. Won't ever be able to pass an Asian store ever Asian without checking for agar.

Big shout out to Will for his photographic assistance and answering my various queries on hop plants,  mixed gas etc. Special mention goes to spray bottle weilding assistant Conor who kept both me and the keg cool as we tested the limits of my aldi hole saws and Lidl drill.
