hi lads, like many, I'm going to have to purchase a reg pretty soon. Some quick questions...
what's the difference between these?
https://www.thehomebrewcompany.ie/co2-dual-gauge-regulator-p-2281.html
and
https://www.thehomebrewcompany.ie/co2regulator-with-2-manometers-p-1514.html
(apart from price and availability :P)
and is there advantage \ disadvantages to steel over aluminium tanks?
The second (expensive one) has two outlets each controlled by a valve. The second smaller picture on the page is I think the correct one!!
Note that each outlet will be at the same pressure as there is only one regulator.
Suggest you contact THBC and check
What about this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Co2-Pub-Gas-Welding-Regulator-Two-Gauge-Single-Stage-Side-Entry-/161673802469?ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:GB:1123
Or this for £19

Do the fire extinguishers take a male or female fitting?
The first one will work fine CO2 bottles and FEX both have a Male thread.
The second one is for Argon only - why it says CO2 I don't know. Argon and Pub Mixed Gas bottles have a Femal thread on the bottle. Thats why the Argon reg is wearing the orange condom ;)
Note to all: Do not buy regs from the states! They are ever so differently sized!
Cheers for that Will_D, so lads we need regulators with a male fitting in order to go the fire extinguisher or CO2 tank route.
For those planning on getting a pub size tank for mixed gas its a female thread on the regulator.
Depending on pictures its hard to see if the reg is a male fitting or not, this is the clearest one I've found:

That is an Argon Reg with a male thread!
Argon regs are no use for CO2!
CO2 Regs have a big loose nut (female) that screws onto the Male bottle!
Sorry, other part to my original question, what's the difference between ALU and steel? just price \ weight?

On another note, the argon reg will work for the mixed gas bottle if your planning on pouring nitro stout.
