Title: expired malt
Post by: dcalnan on May 01, 2015, 08:58:43 PM
Have 3kg of the craft range lme and it says best before 2/4/15 is it still ok to use. I have 4 brews to put on in the next month with grain/malt/yeast all expiring so I may be offloading some. Currently my two fermenters are full.

Best before < > bad after.
Once it's not years out of date it should be ok.

I think the real issue here is why you only have two fermentors??  :P
The malt is sealed so its probably fine. Its basically sugar, I'd still use sugar if it was out of date, not that i'd really check.
If you don't brew with it, it could be used for baking or poured over pancakes... just an idea.

Yeah i was mainly concerned would it affect colour/gravity. But I'll use it soon. Yeah new fermenters are on the list, my brother has some but he hasn't cleaned them since he last used them two years ago.
