After buying the cheap kegs, I now realise that I need a _LOT_ of other stuff to make it all work. :)
Where do people normally buy CO2 cylinders and refills?
When googling, I found this site - https://www.iedepot.ie/2-litre-co2-welding-paintball
Is that a good price?
Is that size big enough (1.5Kg) ?
Is there anything special about suitable gas for beer (i.e. does it have to be food quality, etc?)
Thanks,
Denis
I'm in the same boat, need to get all the other bits to go with the kegs... but i know the CO2 has to be food grade, as for size, i think most people are using cylinders that are larger than that. The best place (most talked about) is AJ Edge in Bray, from what i can gather, they're very reasonably priced and good to deal with, and have tanks you can buy direct.
Open to correction on everything here :P

Absolutely bang on, you won't beat them. I looked up iedepot but they are too expensive when you factor in the deposit
2L seems pretty small. You'll spend as much filling it as you will a larger one
Second what's said about AJ Edge. 10 euro for pretty much any size tank
Thanks for all the pointers - I called AJ Edge and they said there'd be no problem getting a cylinder. They are out of stock of them right now but expect some more in 2/3 weeks.
I'll report back when I get sorted.
Just to follow up for future people searching...
AJ Edge have the cylinders back in stock. I picked one up today - nice looking cylinder, filled (6Kg) for €40. He said that it'd be €10 to fill it anytime.
Nice guys.

Are these cylinders converted fire extinguishers? And if so are they minus the dip tube?
Yes they are bright red new bottles with new brass (beer style) valves fitted.
They don't just remove the dip tube from the Fex valve!
At present its 10 for the fill 30 for the valve.
Valves are always new but tanks may not be.
Also have 2Kg tanks if required, same cost, handy for parties etc.

It looks like the cylinder is reconditioned and the valve is new..
Hi Folks
I have a few questions and I'm hoping someone can help me. I recently bought a CO2 tank from AJ Edge in Bray (fantastic crowd, cannot recommend them enough). However now I've gone to attach my CO2 tank to my reg I've noticed that the valve on the CO2 is a standard wheel type CO2 valve but the regulator has a square shape on it's end (reg type found here: https://www.thehomebrewcompany.ie/co2-dual-gauge-regulator-includes-john-guest-fitting-p-2281.html).
Now it still screws together perfectly but there is still a leak out the back when I turn the gas on. Will an O-ring seal this leak? I'm after buying an o-ring in commons and trying it but it blew out (it wasn't a great O-ring tho tbh).
If it is just a case of needing a stronger O-ring, what size do I need? If not, what is the name of the new connection I need?
Sorry if this post is long winded, I've attached a photo to show what I mean.
Thank you in advance for the help.
Shaun :)
you will get your answer on 1 thread no need to blitz :P
Hi Cider
Apologies, I meant to make it on other thread so I reposted >.<
