Sourcing a large larder fridge

Since my maxi cooler bit the bucket (thread here: https://www.nationalhomebrewclub.ie/forum/equipment-chemicals/servicerepair-a-maxi-cooler/ in case anyone has some help there too).

Anyone know good sources for getting a large fridge that I could use as a temp controller instead? I am trying to chill a 65L SS Chronical, so need this to have a robust floor, and the internal dimensions would need to be pretty roomy aswell: probably 55-60cm x 55-60cm internal dimensions and maybe 140cm internal height.

Some of the catering grade fridges look the bees knees , but pricey, even from 2nd hand places.

They can be pretty pricey, brand new. You might be lucky and get a free one off gumtree but let's be honest, everyone wants paid these days. Even for stuff they no longer want. Then there is the issue of getting it home from a private sale. Chances are you will have to sort that out. They also come with no warranty. You might be better off just trying to source the cheapest new one you can. It will cost you more but it will be delivered and have a years warranty.

Check it every now and again. Found them grand to deal with and delivered.

The 55-60cm width is the tricky bit. I got an Indesit larder fridge new that was just about 55 I think, but most were smaller

When I got my big conical I had a decision to make on cooling, and went with an external maxi instead of a larder fridge. Been regretting that ever since. As I lived in London, there was a greater supply of 2nd hand fridges and the like. Before I left a commercial display fridge came up for £100 that I thought about but never took the plunge (second big mistake).

The second hand sites here are not as close to being good, and while i did pick up a good chest freezer for my kegerator, it took a while to source one that wasnt stupid money (and I did have a nice drive to collect it - though cant complain too much, south wexford on a sunny day is lovely driving country).

My biggest concern with a larder fridge is getting something that can take the weight of the conical plus 60L of beer in it.

For the prices some people are asking for their fridges, you would be sorely tempted by a walk in industrial freezer unit for €600 : https://www.donedeal.ie/cateringfittings-for-sale/8ft-8ft-walk-in-freezer-fridge/23965753?campaign=3

I'd take it if I had somewhere to put it!

Put up a search on www.adverts.ie . Free is gone within 24hours but you will get one for the 50 range.

My experience of looking for a small freezer for brewing a couple of years ago was that any free or low priced ones on adverts were scooped up by dealers for resale as soon as they appeared. I ended up getting a very old 90's freezer for €50 but it does the business.

Get it while it's hot. Offer less so you can cover the cost of collection.

Inice heads up but it's too small.

But good general advice on search strategies
