Made a Maple Wheat Ale.

The expected OG was 1.082.
It came out as 1.06
I mashed for 90 mins between 65 and 69 degrees celcius.
Made sure to stir the grain so there was no dough balls several times.

Is there any way to increase the effeciency.

The recipe was as follows.

Pale Ale Malt 3.6kg
Wheat Malt 3.4kg

Hallertau Mittlefruh 22g 60min boil
Maple Syrup 220g 60 min boil

Hallertau Mittlefruh 14g 15mins

Safbrew WB – 06 yeast.

Mashed in 26 litres of water at 65degrees celcius for 90mins.
Boiled for 60 mins
19 litres made it into the fermenter.

Any help would be appreciated. :)

I think you may have miscalculated. The grains you listed only yields 1.063 at 75% efficiency! (http://www.brewersfriend.com/brewhouse-efficiency/)

That aside, make sure you're taking the correct readings to nail down your efficiency. For your next brew, take a measurement of both gravity and wort volume before the boil. Then note down the same after. Using these numbers you can work out both your efficiency using a calculator like the one linked above, as well as your boil off as this needs to be taken into account when calculating how much grain to use.

Once you've done this and determine you're still getting low efficiency, you can look to improve it by:

* Squeezing out the bag as much as you can
* Dunk sparging in a few litres of water and using this to top up the kettle back to boil vol
* When you're ordering your grain ask them to mill it as finely as possible (this makes a big difference)

I flushed the bags my last two brewdays and missed my numbers.
My first three brew days I didn't flush and hit my numbers spot on.
I starting to expect it could be the grain crush.

I stuck the numbers into Brewmate and that was the numbers it gave for 18.9 liters.
