Tigger

I'm Tigger, when i was a poor chemistry student i used to ferment stuff which tasted alright but cost very very little money and so was very handy. Mostly kits and table sugar sugar or from apple juice and honey, anyhows I've decided to give it a go again and its grand to see how the scene has developed with the interweb as a source of info

at the moment i've got a hacked coopers larger conditioning in bottles (i bought a coopers kit as a starter pack) a muntons bock kit with light dme on its second week in primary, some scrumpy that i was experimenting with (i added dex and nutrient) og 1.070 fg 0.950  >:D lol. I'm drinking that mixed in the glass with lidil cloudy apple juice. I've a second fv with a cyser that had an og of 1.065 that i sweetened with colgon as an experiment i'll be interested to see how it attenuates cos i'd don't really want another 15% apple fuel

planned brews are another kit bock on dark dme a couple of hacked coopers toucan, a red ale and then with help from this forum i hope to move to extract and to grain by this time next year.

LordEoin

by this time next year? jump straight in :D

welcome btw

Hi Tigger always a pleasure to welcome another chemist on board.

We do have some pretty interesting chem/bio chem threads!

Where are you based as we have a number of regional monthly meetups.

The best group is based in the North County of Dublin and meet in The Old Boro, in Swords.
Ok so I am biased!

But we are pretty good cider makers as well as great brewers!
Remember: The Nationals are just round the corner - time to get brewing

Tigger

Well Will I'm afraid I'm a Dub in exile
I'm living in Sligo and the commute is too far
I'll keep an eye out for the threads on beerchem
:)

I remember saying that, then I went to one of the club brewdays and the next day I was eyeing up mash tuns when I seen how handy it was - compared to what I thought it would be.. the books/forums just make it look hard. Ya should get in touch with the Galway Homebrewers lads and pop down next time they get one going. If you're kit hacking you should even jump straight into extract with partial boils, all you need is a pot by the sounds of it.

Tigger

i'm bad at punctuation
i hope to move to extract (soon this summer) and then to all grain by this time next year
the new ballymote brewery is about 2 miles away is he on here (white hag brewery)
