3 eBay sestos and ssrs, no problems and is boringly accurate  every time!
Chucked a Rex one I had

nigel_c

I use sestos as well. One for HLT and one for boiler.
I also use Rex to monitor my mash. Doesn't control anything though. Just a visual check.
The sestos are really good. Bit of playing around with to get dialed in but when you do you it makes an effortless brewday.

I'm not saying sestos are cheap on the contrary....I just meant the Rex one and the Ssr I got were obviously knock offs, the Ssr decided it had enough today and the Rex can't even tell me the correct temp let alone show any change in temp...the rtd probes when connected were live and also didn't work properly...so they all were a waste of money and effort...
So I had to replace th probes and now the ssr and the Rex is winging its way to HELL 😈😇

There many adages, one of which 'Buy right once'.

Thanks for all the advice and help..
Turned out to be a dodgy ssr that caused all the problems.
Got around to fitting a new one this morning and set the temp to 30,50 then 75 and hit the auto tune and i completed its tune in 30 mins....now sitting happily at 75 for the last couple hours....
Thanks to  dcalnan I got the new ssr from  the crowd below
It was a bit dearer but it arrived overnight and has a quality feel (time will tell) and it works :)

Most important thing is you are up and running!
They look very fancy. I must have been just lucky with the knock off ones I have been using, and probably why I have spares.
