2 x 25 Litre HDPE Jerrycan's With Cap

Hi there,

I am thinking of fermenting in 25L jerrycan's instead of my 30L plastic food containers, purely for the reason that I have a kegerator now and I would like to cold crash beers at the end of fermentation.

I have found a site that only sells them in quantities of 4, so does anybody wan't to go halves and get buy the 2.

10EUR Each (€41.33 inc. VAT in tota for 4 but I don't care about the pennies). I'll pick them up and they can be collected from D6.

I am just waiting back on confirmation of dimensions, but they should be in the region of H:470mm W: 29mm D:240mm so they are just about 9" wide which would be perfect for swapping out the dead keg and crashing the new beer ready for kegging (whilst serving the other keg

Ed: Oxyclean, a good soak and a vigorous shake. Stubborn bits possibly.

Simon: Not sure about what other group buys were on as I didn't look there first but these are HDPE. I'll ask them when they get back what number is on the symbol.

As for as I know the following are classified as "food safe"  - HDPE #2, LDPE #4, PP #5, PETE #1

According to their spec sheet, they are UN approved HDPE drums

Safe to say that these are good for fermenting?

Are the cider drums suitable for  'No Chill'. If they aren't, what plastic is?

 ^-^My place has these works out about £6.50 each or 8.50eur according to google conversion rate.  courier delivery tho, might be more use for someone more local to belfast.  i used one for my last brew, with an extra lid to make a blow off worked a treat.  harder to clean but do able

Might be good grain storage containers... airtight and easy to pour out of.

I have limited space in the house otherwise I would have bought all four and tried to get rid of them over time. But if the girlfriend see's any more brewing equipment I might be living in my keggle sometime soon.
