Hello eveyone,

I joined the forum to enter a competition last year but still have a browse around the forum every now and then to see any new interesting topics.
I have been brewing now for around 2 and a half years. I jumped straight in to all grain with a kit that I got as a Christmas present. The kit sat around for a good few months while I read as much information as I could on the subject but after the process of making the first batch I had a feeling I would be hooked. That was even before I tasted the first beer which turned out all right. I mainly brew IPAs and Irish style stouts as they go down the best among friends and are my personal favourite. I enjoy the process as much as the finished product and really enjoy the diy aspect of building my brewing setup. Lucky for me, I didn't get into this hobby to save money.... and also lucky for me, my partner is very accepting of me taking up a full spare room for various brewing toys!
I am considering joining a club as a way to socialise a bit more with like minded people. I am currently living in D12 in Dublin so there are plenty of options available. I attended the Brewcon this year and was speaking to someone at the taps but can't remember what club he recommended.

Anyway, planning on being more active around here. Also I have a car and travel quite frequently to various places around Ireland for supplies like fintona tyre service outside Omagh for gas or the home brew company in Mountmellick for example. For a few delicious homebrews in return I can drive pretty much anywhere  ;)

Welcome to the community.

For clubs, your best bet is probably South Dublin Brewers, Capital Brewers or Liffey Brewers, depending on which meet is closest for you in D12.
Fermenting: IPA, Lambic, Mead
Conditioning: Lambic, Cider, RIS, Ole Ale, Saison

Welcome Chris. I'm going to be advising you to join up with the Liffey Brewers but I'm biased.
We're meeting this Thursday evening in fact. We usually alternate between Thomas House and Lucan County for the monthly meetings. This month we'll be visiting the open gate for a change though. If you would like to come along you'd be very welcome.

...and if you fancy the original and best Dublin club, come to The Headline on Wednesday 1st Nov from about 7

Cheers everyone for the advice on clubs in the area. I'm not around this week so that rules out the Liffey Brewers for this month. I am definitely around next week on Wednesday so I think i'll give the Capital Brewers a go as The Headline is really close to the house. I'll probably try attend a South Dublin Brewers meet next month and test out what it's like getting public transport there, it's a bit of a trek from where I live so might not be feasible....

Thanks again all.
