Idea for an NCB project

Hi lads,

We were talking in the Boro at one of the meetups about a theme for future nights but I can't remember if we planned anything. I was thinking about hop varieties and doing some brews to showcase the hop. I know we did have some beers recently from some of you guys who did single hop beers. But I was thinking, what if we all brewed the same recipe with a different hop each? I think it would be a really good way for us to learn about individual hops and would help with recipe development. I know for myself as a relatively new brewer that this would be really helpful.

Would anyone be on for this? My idea is that we get as many of us as we can to pick a hop (maybe even at random  ;D). But these hops should be popular enough ones that we can get easily enough.  Pick a standard enough APA or IPA recipe, use a neutral bittering hop and then do a large late addition (and possibly dry hop) with our chosen hop.

If this is successful (and it will be!!!) then I reckon we could take it forward and do a similar brew for malt to learn about the differences in base and specialty malts (i.e. pick a standard recipe, identical hopping and then have individually chosen malts bill).

What do you think? Anyone game?

I'd be up for this. if we could bottle enough so we could swap a bottle of each.
That way as well as trying them at a meet up or brew day,we'd be able to try each brew again at home.

Absolutely. Could also then try some blends.
