I am thinking of purchasing a tortilla press

http://www.mymexicanshop.ie/kitchenware/62-tortilla-press-15-cms.html

trying to figure out would it be worth while as you need to buy Masa-Harina  which is not cheap , 2kg - 10e .

http://www.mymexicanshop.ie/flour/22-maseca-masa-harina-2-kg-bag-gluten-free-100-natural.html

But looking at the recipe on the bbc website , 150g makes 24  then the costings look more  in line

Has anyone any experience in using one of these.

I made these a couple of times. I pressed them using a heavy book and plastic squares cut out from a bin liner bag. That system worked fine and you can stack the tortillas on the plastic squares while you're making them which is very handy.

I went back to wheat tortillas though because they're nicer and easier to wrap around food.

If you're in Dublin, there's a mexican cafe on Dame Street, very near the Bull and Castle, that sells corn four and other mexican ingredients. You might be able to buy a 500g bag of flour there to start with.
