beer chiller compressor farted out

Hi I have a maxi cooler I got cheap some time ago , the compressor is broken, and needs to be replaced, a local electrician said it wad going straight to live every time its plugged in it trips , I have seen compresdors in ebay that may suit is this an easy fix or more trouble than its worth
