Getting Started on All-Grain Kit

Hi Guys,

New to the forum here. Im getting some kit together to start all grain brewing and I'm wondering where are the best places in a Cork city to find the manifold components for a cooler box mash tun and stuff for a boiler (thinking of going down the kettle elements-in fermentation vessel route)? I've priced the copper piping in B&Q but it seems you can only buy the piping in fairly long lengths there so I'm wondering where would be good to buy a shorter length of roughly a metre and a half?

Welcome to the NHC!
Most of the bits you need will come from your local hardware store. Theres also tons of stuff online.
What part of Cork are you in?
I have some spare Copper, not sure how much, but will swap for a bottle of your finest!

My local DPL sells copper pipe by the meter. I almost always get a bit extra or they'll throw in a few brass bits and pieces. You don't get that in B&q. There's one on the Kinsale road.

Welcome to the forum Colm.

It's hard to beat Cork Builders Providers on price at the moment but you want to be fairly sure of what you want when you go in there. The staff can be a bit intimidating if they're busy! I like Irish International Trading, the staff are very helpful and they have lot's of quare shíte that others don't stock. They are also open Saturday morning.

B&Q / Woodies are grand for Friday night to Sunday shopping but you'll pay a premium.

If you've got any friends who are plumbers ask them can you have a nose in their van, that's where you'll find the best bargains! Beer for fittings

Thanks for all the replies guys , it's much appreciated! Got the copper piping in IIT, they were very helpful to be fair - just have to sort a cooler box now and the elements and it's all systems go!
