Happy to be able to join the club. I've been homebrewing on and off since about 1995 (frequently since 2007), am a BJCP judge, and collector and trader of beer-related collectibles and antiques. I learned about this club through a visit to Kavanaugh's in Dublin. Very impressed with beer scene in Ireland, and happy to learn about the homebrewing scene.

BTW-- my local brew club is GLUB in Philadelphia--we meet the last Thursday of the month at Campbells Inn, and if you're in Philly, please drop by. Favorite beers to brew-- quirky, artsy bocks; all styles of Belgian beer. Most used hops-- Northern Brewer, Cascade, Perle, Saaz, Spalt. Most used yeast strains-- Wyeast California Lager, Wyeast Canadian Belgian Ale.

Cheers,
Tom

Another yank? ;D Welcome Tom! Call over for a pint some time :)

Tom you will be gutted to hear WJ Kavanaghs closed today, which is a real shame as it was one of Ireland's premier spots for Cask.
Post up next time you are over and we can give your alternatives.

Kavanaghs was wonderful, esp the staff in the kitchen! Sorry to hear. What happened? Did they loose their lease?

Hi Tom! Glad to see you've made it onto the forum and thanks again for the couple of visits up to us. Sad day yesterday with the pub closing. Nothing to do with losing lease or lack of business-the owners also have a brewery and another pub-they felt they were spreading themselves too thin and made the painful decision to close the doors. Onwards and upwards though!

Welcome to the forum!!

Don't suppose any of your BJCP buddies will be over these ways in March?

Nice to see you on here anyway,

Declan (from Kavanaghs)

Declan--

Just sent you an email with info regarding advertizing for BJCP judges. Words cannot express the level of bummed-ness that Meg and I are feeling over Kavanaghs. We wish the owners the best. Sure looked to us like they knew what they were doing.

I'd say Kavanagh's will re-open by the end of the month.
Let me guess:
