Hi. Dan here. Im a new member to and to date have been brewing the pre packed paint by numbers stuff by Coopers (coopers home kit). A buddy and me really want to start proper home brewing.

From Cork so will be calling into the well on saturday for a nose at the home brew expo.

Can anyone give me advice on a complete all grain starter kits. I see the homebrewcompany have the following :

https://www.thehomebrewcompany.ie/all-grain-starter-pack-for-5-gallon-batches-p-1096.html

Is this a good starter (i.e value, completeness & quality)? Or any recommended alternatives?

Thanks,
Dan

hey Dan,
another cork brewer here, welcome to brewing and the forum. I have only managed to make one f the meetups but will hopefully bump into you at the next one.

I have been using that exact set up for the last two years or so (about 6 brews or so) and it has worked out really well for me. I am sure in the future i might want to upgrade but can't see it happening anytime soon.
i would say go for it. a great and cheap set up.

Cheers Beerboar.

No doubt we'll bump into each other in future and share recipes (coffee stouts, porters & dry hopped IPAs my fav).

In relation to the kit (which I near convinced to purchase), is there anything missing from it that I'll need?

Thanks again

Hi.  I have recently been down the same path.

I got a kit from these guys who post to your door.   http://truebatchbrew.com/products/fox-hop-amber-ale-1-gallon-all-grain-brewing-kit

Its considerable less to make  1 gallon batches and I found it a great start into all grain without the expense of all the equipment.  Plus the instructions and very straight forward.    I could not recommend it more to be honest.     All the stuff you get in the kit will be useful if you take it to the next level.

Welcome to the NHC Dan!

Where in Cork are you?

The expo is a good start to see the process.
You'll see that the homebrew process is just a scaled down version of commercial.

I'm with the Rebel Brewers, keep an eye on our board, we meet pretty much monthly, taste and swap brews.

If you want to go mega cheap small batch, you can do 5l batches in aldi water bottles. I have made up a kilo of grain for a stout for one the lads, starting on all grain and included hops and yeast. You just need a few pots and pans.

I should be at the Expo for a bit Saturday, might see you there.

You can also get that True Batch Brew kit in Bradleys on North Main st.
