Hi,

I'm 100% new to all of this and I was wondering if any one knows where I can buy my ingredients locally?

I live just outside Mallow - so Mallow would be great.  I hate going into Cork City on a Saturday :).

Anyone recommend what ingredients to get?

Thanks,
Jim

LordEoin

good luck with that. I've not found anywhere in mallow with supplies

Taf

Not sure that there is much else in Cork City. Nature's way at Paul Street Shopping centre seems to have some stuff, and heard mention that the kitchen shop at the top of Oliver Plunkett St has something. Tesco as well maybe. Most folks just order of one of the online companies. What type of things are you looking for?

Taf - everything, we have a home brew kit but we used the ingredients last night with the first batch.   So I need to replace everything.

By luck I was sent the wrong FV but they said to keep it and they sent the correct size.

Now I'm thinking I should start a second batch in a week so I always have over lapping batches and never run out of beer lol.

As to what kind of beer - I'm a newbie so I'll take advise on that from yourselves.

Hi jimbuckleybarrett, welcome to the forum.

That has to be the longest username on here.
Stick on your address , DOB, CC and Pin, and I'll call to you with your requirements!

What kit do you have?
Who have you bought off already?
What went wrong that you would not go for repeat business?

You would not get into Cork from Mallow for a fiver, so order 2 kits now, start into your next brew, then order again.
You're going to need more buckets depending on how many brews you want on too.

I suggest...
Get kits that you would like to drink yourself.
If you don't know what you like yourself, ask your friends what they like.
No friends? That means more beer for you!
Keep one spigoted bucket for bottling, and 2 x fermenters.
Keep it simple.
Sanitation, sanitation, sanitation.
Temperature control.
Get to meet ups, Rebel Brewers are generally monthly on a Friday night, so don't fall foul of 'I never go to Cork on a Saturday' lark.
Oh, sanitation.

Thanks johnrm or is the General johnrm from Nigeria :)

What kit do you have? - BrewSmarter Premium Starter Beer Kit
Who have you bought off already?  homebrewwest
What went wrong that you would not go for repeat business? Nothing was hoping for some where closer to home that's all.

This is what I purchased:  http://www.homebrewwest.ie/brewsmarter-premium-starter-beer-kit-x28best-valuex29-844-p.asp

I like beer - any beer - not picky at all. :)
