Missing sugar in recipe

Hi,

There doesn't seem to be any mention of sugar for this kit.

Am I going blind or do they presume that I will add sugar to the brew when bottling?

Or is it the case that sugar isn't used?

Thanks,
Jim (novice!)

Middle paragraph on Welcome page.
The fomented sugar is dextrose.
What kit is it?

Hi,

It's Coopers Heritage Lager 3.2 Kg Ingredient Pack.

I started is on Monday, should I add the sugar or wait for bottling?

Yes, add the sugar now. Leave it for at least a week before bottling. You'll have bottle bombs if you add it just before bottling  ???

Boil the sugar in about 250ml of water first to sanitise it. Then let it cool before gently tipping it into the FV.

Have you got any DME? It would be much better than sugar?

Parky

Hi Jim,

If this is a 3.2 Kg Ingredient Pack, then am I right in thinking it came with two cans - a 1.7kg can  Coopers Heritage Lager kit and a 1.5kg can of liquid malt extract?

If that's correct then you won't need to add additional sugar for fermentation.

You can buy the kit by itself (the Coopers 1.7kg can) and add 1kg of sugar, or 1kg dry malt extract (DME), but in this case the 1.5kg can of liquid malt extract is the extra fermentable which replaces the 1kg of sugar or DME you would have added.

If you've added both the Coopers can and the 1.5kg can of liquid malt extract to your fermenter and pitched the yeast, then you'll be fine as is.

The only sugar you will need to add after this is for priming the bottles when fermentation has finished ... but one step at a time  ;)

(If this doesn't sound like the kit you have then ignore all the above  :))

@Parky, that is exactly the kit I got.  Thank you.

I hope you read Parky's comment before mine  :P
