Hi everybody,

I've been home brewing for about 6 years now. Until this year it's been extract and specialty grains. Now I'm onto ~35L all grain batches. I still have a lot to refine in my current process but long term I hope to set up an all electric system based on Kal's setup at http://www.theelectricbrewery.com/. I moved from the US about 2 1/2 years ago and I brought my burner setup with me.

Here's some pictures from a brew day earlier this year:

My next project is to put together a solid brew stand, picking up 40+ liters of hot wort is not for me. I'm also hoping to upgrade my STC-1000 fermentation chambers to BrewPi but I have a lot to learn before I get into that one.

Looks like a great community here with a lot of experience and expertise. I look forward to meeting up with some of the members and hopefully I can give a little back.

Cheers,
Jon

Welcome to the NHC Jon  :)

That's a cool looking set-up you have. Ozbrewer built a lustworthy electric brewery here if you're looking for a bit of brew porn  :P

The rebel brewers are having a meet up this friday in the Franciscan Well if you want to pop in. More info here.

Thanks for pointing out the next meet up, I might actually be able to make it.

I read through Ozbrewer's build thread a couple of weeks ago. That's one fine bit of kit. If I can just convince the property manager to have a 63 amp line dropped to my shed... what SWMBO doesn't know won't hurt her. >:D

Hi and welcome. Nice set up there  ;)

Hey Jon, check the spacing of the connector blocks on your STC1000.
If the power and sensor are beside each other it may be a v1.0 and if so, you may be able to flash the firmware to do step temps.

I just saw an article about this (probably here). I have a spare that is flashable so I'll probably get around to that at some point.

I was lucky enough to get an Arduino and a Raspberry Pi for Christmas last year so I definitely want to make an attempt at assembling a BrewPi from scratch. I'm so-so at DIY and the only experience I have with electronics is a homemade stirplate and my STC's so it'll be interesting to see how I make out.
