Just received information through on the facebook page for this UK competition taking place on Saturday 25th April if anyone is interested  :)

just read their bottling requirements. They require > 1.5 litres of beer as they let all attendees sample the beers after the judging. Seems like a cool idea & better than the additional beers going in the crushed.

Not all the beer gets drank though, but over the last 2 years, we managed to make sure that no bottles were wasted. Typically encouraging attendees to take some home with them. This year it is in the middle of hackney so I suspect a really good turn out.

As a first, we also have access to refrigeration facilities, so judging lagers will be a lot more enjoyable ...

That's  a good idea no waste beer and an extra 500 ml bottle isn't a big deal. Means hosting doesn't have to be done at a place with a liquor licence not that that's a bad thing but it opens more options up to organisers and it's gets people trying homebrew

Anyone enter then? I've a very fresh APA on the way. Slightly worried it won't have time to settle down but sure we'll see.

TheSumOfAllBeers

There are a couple of Irish entries. We got 250 in the end, nearly 100 more than last year.

Going to be a blast I think, but I will need both hollow legs this time around

Nothing entered but will be there as a judge. Looking forward to it.
On tap: Flanders, Gose,
Fermenting: Oatmeal Brown, 200ish Fathoms,
Ageing: bretted 1890 export stout.
To brew:  2015 RIS, Kellerbier, Altbier.

Do you know if the beers will be put in the fridge on Friday?

TheSumOfAllBeers

Can't say for sure, there is a big operation to get the place setup on Friday afternoon before the brewery closes, but the sorting aspect is a bit if a hassle. Some beers are already there, some are being brought that day.

It's possible that the Friday may just be a bout getting them into fridges, and we can arrange tasting flights Saturday morning. That would make the most sense to me.

Refrigeration facilities are big, we have been told to bring warm clothes. Be a shame to waste it

Scored a 39. Not bad considering the beer had 6 days to bottle condition.  :P

Which category? Was run off my feet stewarding and missed out a lot if chances to inspect beers from other tables

irish_goat

American Pale Ale. Had a feeling it was a bit young for this competition but should be grand for the Wicklow comp next month.  :)
