Heya,
So in an effort to improve my brewing, I'm trying to get an idea of what are the main competitions and styles that are being judged to a good standard annually? I want to actually have brews getting ready in future, rather than scrambling the weeks before to get something on or entering something I brewed that isn't up to scratch. :)
Fermenting: IPA, Lambic, Mead
Conditioning: Lambic, Cider, RIS, Ole Ale, Saison
On Tap: IPA, Helles, Best Bitter

Capital Brewers are looking to run the summer session competition in July this year (not officially announced yet).  Our format is different to normal competitions in that we only accept the top 3 scoring beers from each club to keep the numbers manageable given our city centre location.

If you are prepared to organise a competition for a set style of beer (BJCP or not) be it open or closed then you must ask youself the question:

"How long to brew this style of beer".

Then add at least 4 weeks minimum

So for the simple quick beers you are looking at 2 months minimum
Remember: The Nationals are just round the corner - time to get brewing
