Here is the computation method decided for 2016...

6 points for a Gold Medal  4 Points for a Silver Medal  2 Points for a Bronze Medal
Minimum five entries
All medal points added together, the total number of entries is then deducted from this number and this final figure is the brewers score for this title.
In the event of two or more brewers getting the same score, the total number of gold medals is the tiebreaker.
Should this not suffice, number of silver will be used, and then number of bronze.
Should all these not separate the brewers, a tie will be declared and the brewers wil l share the title

What's the thinking behind deducting the number of entries?
Every little helps

I suppose it adds a small handicap to someone entering 20 beers versus a guy entering 10.
But Im only the messenger !!

I can see that all right, but I think it's also worth bearing in mind that it's logistically very difficult to brew lots of quality entries. You can't usually devote the same attention to each and the overall effort is likely greater.

I understand though that it's possible for someone to brew three or four quality beers and then enter a load of shit to see what sticks. That's not good for anyone (except the person who holds the competition purse strings).

It's a tricky one!

Probably why its best brewer, maybe the title should read highest quality brewer  :P

Proposed scoring seems fair enough to me

That's as fair as you make it I'd say.
Fermenting: IPA, Lambic, Mead
Conditioning: Lambic, Cider, RIS, Ole Ale, Saison
On Tap: IPA, Helles, Best Bitter
