Hi chaps,

does anyone have any feedback on the "Minch Malts" I see available in the LHBS around Ireland?

I have generally stuck with Best Malz as my standard but if I can support local lads that is way more better...

Also, just a quick question on "2-row". Ive been using "pale malt" ( Best Malz ) is this the same? If not can you drop a link to an Irish supplier of "2-row"?

Cheers!
Jon

I use the Minch Pale and Pilsner. Like them a lot and its hard to argue against the price

2-row is the standard American pale malt. You can sub it for any pale malt

I've been using Minch for my last couple of brews: The Pale and The HookHead Pale specifically. My efficiencies have been great and the taste fantastic. The fact that it's Irish and a fantastic price make it a no brainer imo.

I've had very good number results with the Hook Head series we been given from Brewcon, initial tastings have been positive and need to leave it another month before I call it but so far it's up there with MO.

Just cracked open my first brew done with Minch Hookhead (SNPA Variant) instead of my usual MO and all I can say is I'll be switching to it permanently if this standard is kept up. Delicious, fresh tasting and really brings the hops to the fore.

Very impressed. Great work guys.

Very happy with the Minch malts. The efficiency of the pale is about 8-10% higher then the weyermanns in the brews I've done.
The hook head comes in at much the same as the weyermanns.

Mince pale is my go to malt now.
