So (idiots guide) cut the bit that goes into the phone off, expose the wire, attach to one of those things and attach the fan to the other side. Seems easy.

It's basically that easy.If you have a pc fan with a red, black and yellow wire just cut the yellow at the fan as it's not required.
On the charger you will have a black wire and another black with a trace of white.Your black is neutral/negative and the black/white is live/positive.
