Beer fobs

I got a few beer fobs from a friend and I'm wondering if there's any use for them in a home system.
Are they just to stop wasting beer that's in the line when the keg empties?
I've never thought of them before. Any insight?

I've a pair myself in the shed. I haven't been able to bring myself to dump them so I'd be keen to hear if they are of any use too!
...used to be NewBier

Can't imagine what use they would be at home. In the pub they're just there to stop air getting into the line after the keg empties. So you can tap a new keg and start pouring beer straight away again. Your local micro might appreciate them if you offer.

Yeah, as Thomas says, you won't find much use unless you have more than one keg of the same beer, like a house beer or something, but even a heavy drinker would probably be cleaning the lines more often that changing the keg. Interesting gadgets all the same.

I was reading about another way of saving beer wastage between kegs, and a time saver for a busy pub, and that's running kegs in series, so GAS IN keg one, beer out keg one into gas IN of keg two, and so on, which is the same as jumping Cornies for racking. Don't imagine that'll be used much over here except around Paddy's day, and Diageo would have a fit.

Aaaanyway.

fair enough. they came with a bag of assorted JG fittings and a UDS tap with a nice chrome handle, so still a win  ;D
