newbie looking for temperature control advise.

Have to agree with Pob, of course you can get by with nothing, but beer at best will only be ok. Like sanitation it's an easily controllable variable and if that's a constant from the start it's much easier then to mess about with ingredients or process and know what's been the real cause of success of failure.

My temperature journey was

Dining room, no heat, "get it out"

Kingspan Insulated panels with heat belts

Carboys in heated buckets

Stc 1000

Flashed programmable Stc 1000

Kingspan insulated panels with 40w heater and fan controlled by stc 1000

Larder Fridge lager with brewpi mark 1 and fan and conservatory heater (current)

Larder Fridge West lager with mybrewbot (Current)

Larder Fridge West West (ale) Mybrewbot being controlled by a tilt (current)

Sure sure you have all this shite CH does it make a difference? 
versus ambient yep and v stc maybe +/- 1 and for a tenner for an stc and a 15quid conservatory heater in a free fridge that's where I'd tell most to start.
