Hi all.
I've chatted with a couple of you guys on other forums etc. thought it was time to join up and see what you lot are upto. My name is Conor. From Belfast but living in Fermanagh. Like most I guess, I started with kits and a basic setup thanks to my missus at Christmas a few years back. Quickly got out of hand and spent past two years building an all grain rig. 2 x burco boilers (hlt and kettle) 30litre mash tun and a rake of fermenting buckets. Use a cut down oxo splatter guard for a false bottom and a manifold made from copper pipe to strain the hops. Basically followed Graham Wheeler and jimsbeerkit to build the rig. Works a treat to be honest. Not a huge amount of time to brew unfortunately but hope that will change soon.
Anyways, enough of my shite, I'll  chat y'all soon...

Typical spoons really, hit or miss with ale quality and selection becuse none of the managers give a flying fuck about beer. Or their jobs either. Having said that I would be in it once or twice a week, last night they had woodfordes nelson, Otter Amber and another lovely golden ale which I can't remember the name of. Also Abbot and Adnams Broadside as standard. Brilliant choice to be fair to them. It's not always like that!! Thursday night is curry club so curry and a pint for £6. All in all I'd say if you happen to be in when they have their act together you will get a decent pint at an incredible price (£1.90) the food is as you'd expect (think tv dinners) service can be slow because there just isn't enough staff, and it can be lacking in atmosphere but I suppose you make your own craic...

I worked for them for years in london. They actually had a pub bought and ready to open in Capel St. Dublin. Management team picked and all, but then suddenly the whole thing was quietly dropped. Never did hear the truth behind it all. I would imagine the vintners weten't overly impressed though.

I think the story goes,the premise was bought and while the planning was being put through the value of the bought premises went so high they sold it and made a fat profit.

Really? That's new to me, good man Dempsey.Makes sense I guess though I definately saw a for sale notice in the Irish Independant. On another note, I was walking past the Lakeland store in the local shopping centre and they actually have a nice wee selection of beer & wine making kits and equipment. I think they are a national chain so could be worth a look. Got to admit I would rather give my business to the small guys rather than corporates but would use the big guys if I was stuck for something in a hurry..
