Just put this down last night, my first "proper" wine kit. Its Young's winebuddy/6 bottle/ 7 day Chardonnay. Got it for 7.50 euro on discount in a local Tesco store(well 60 miles away). Kinda worried i will have a blow out on this one as its very near the top so i have put the demijohn, bubbler and all down into an empty sterilized 33lt bucket fermenter. It says 7 days but i have my doubts on this, think at least 10 days would be better.

Was not looking for a wine kit but couldn't turn it down as a cheapo 6 bottle kit like this is normally 16 euro abouts. Hoping it turns out ok so i can lay it down for Christmas   ;D

I want to compare it to a recent white wine(well brown cause i used brown sugar) i did from Aldi white grape juice. I suspect that there will be little quality difference for the price. This 6 bottle kit is about 2.5 times the price of what it cost me to knock up the aldi brew.   :-X

I just brewed this one as well, I was worried initially about a cidery taste off it but now that its cleared down its tasting very nice.

Fermentation wasn't vigorous at all, barely noticeable in fact.  I'm very pleasantly surprised with the quality of this kit.

Agree Damofto this one seems to be slow and steady fermenting, what with the wood chips its kinda brown looking as well  ???
I forsee a long secondary and conditioning for this one but i could be wrong, let me know how it goes for you as this is my first.

Last night after 12 days in primary i added my stabilizer and fining packs to finish my wine. When i got up this morning this is what it looked like. I thought it looked a little dark for a white but when i poured a gravity sample it looked fine.

OG was 1110 and FG pre bottling was 992 giving me an abv of approximately 15.6% ??? Holy cow i did not expect that high an abv. I have a small tin of youngs white grape concentrate which i will be using to top up and back sweeten with about a litre of water. That should drop the abv a few points ?
