As you may be aware we are running the Slow Food Apple & Craft Cider Festival in September (21st & 22nd) and more details can be found at slowfoodireland.com/applefest. Of primary interest to you and your fellow club members may be the inaugural Irish Craft Cider Competition. The Open Cider Class is for non-commercial amateur and homebrew enthusiasts. The judges are Alex Hill, Managing Director, Vigo Limited, a leading supplier to the craft cider industry in the UK & Europe and Leslie Williams, Food Columnist, Irish Examiner. There is a third prestigious judge but we are awaiting confirmation. Further details are available through the website.

Other than that we will have twelve of the thirteen Irish commercial craft cider makers that I know of at the festival and more than twenty Irish craft ciders. I have been in touch with some homebrew retailers and we will have apple trees on sale, tours and demos. There is a full programme of events being finalised at present but it would definitiely be worth a visit.

If you would like any further information by all means get in touch.

Kind regards,

Paul Deegan
