Excise up 10c on a pint, or 5c on micro brewed pints, and 50c on a 75cl bottle of wine. These are before VAT so you should see 6.15c on a micro brewed pint. Expect this to be probably 15c on the tills.

Could have been worse I suppose.

brrrew more buy less.

my premium beers are costing me 25 cent a pint....with my own hops 15 cent a pint ;)

Craft costs 4.50 kildare, 4 quid in sweetmans and up to 7 quid in other pubs....I ask again...are we bein screwed by government and publicans?

Are we homebrewers who love drinking and debating our own drink or consumers willing to pay up to 7 quid for a normal decent pint... which is what we should at the very least get for our 4-7 euros considering that they are being brewed for pittance compared to the retail price...

Milk...... :)
farmer gets 25 cent a pint, government gets say 15 cent and tesco gets 10 cent.

Beer........ ??? >:(

Brewer prob gets a euro but has lots of costs re servicing pubs and so on, government gets a bit more...publican gets somewhere between 2 and 5 euros?  is this right?

I say meet up more and drink more of our own great beer and ask why there is 3 euros per pint difference between pubs

are we too soft?

Presuming Mr Noonan is as daft as ever, last year he announced he was increasing the level of duty on wine by €1.00. It was only after clarification from the Department of Finance that in fact he was increasing excise duty by 81 cent, with the VAT bringing it up to €1.00. This time he announced he was putting up duty on a pint by 10%, then corrected himself to 10 cents. I can only presume it is 10 cents including VAT.

A micro brewed pint is given a 50% rebate on duty. So excise duty costs only half the price of a "pint".

A microbrewery is one which produces less than 20,000 hl per year, with a few other minor conditions.

The "minor" conditions seem to cover the bases on that point. There is an independence clause of some sort... e.g. the Fran Well produce less than 20,000hl but are not a microbrewery as they are owned by a large brewery that does produce more than that much.
