There are morello cherries in every garden centre you go to. There should be an abundance of the bloody things around. Now to find a gardener with a few pounds of these that they don't want.

Or better still...anybody know of wild irish cherry tree somewhere we could tap for a few kg next autumn. I imagine they'd be even more tart and therefore excellent

There is a certain public house in town that has Leifmans Goudenband in stock. Might warrant a field trip  :P

It's Porterhouse and I confirmed stock this morning.  8)

Hope you saw it in person, cos if it was over the phone they may have been looking at leffe, not Leifmans

Wasn't in person but I spelled it out to them. I've had it there before on a few occasions. Still, I'm a risk taker.

imark

Cool. I should be there before you. Can't stay too long though

It is possible to get tins of the original Schaarbeek krieken, local morellos if available would be cool too.

I thought that Schaarbeek cherries were super rare and not available commercially. Schaarbeek is basically a grotty suburb of Brussells now. Tim Webb says at best most krieks have sour Polish cherries.

Even Drei Fontanein Oude Krieke only contains 35% Schaarbeekse Krieken and it's not exactly cheap, even at the brewery (which is well worth a visit).

I think I'll have to move to Kildare....

You mightn't have to migrate just yet. External input may be required.
Thoroughly enjoyed bottle of Goudenband I had in porterhouse yesterday. Excellent beer. I'm really looking forward to this brew.

Just reading up on a Belgian site, I can read a bit of Dutch, 50-60kg of krieken added to a 250l vat of lambic..... :O

Wow...that's a nice few punnets. I made 20L of framboise and used 3.5kg of raspberries.
I think we'd be adding fruit to part of the 200L and doing it on our own.
