Caught a bit of this on BBC last night, seems to be a show about counterfeit goods being imported into the UK and sold as legit items. Last nights show focused on alcohol - knock off Bollinger from a white van man sold in a corner shop i wasn't too surprised with, however there was one shipping container from China full of knock off Corona that was discovered - I found this shocking (not as shocking as the taste of that awful muck) - but they were showing these products getting into the "food chain" (knock off wine had been discovered in Tesco) - you would wonder with the pressure of the multiples to sell a box of these for as low cost as they do, would distributors take a chance like this, slip a few cases in here and there. Ending up in Ireland too I would guess.

When she saw it, the missus said - "I wont be drinking Corona again" - Yeah says I, sure that could have been brewed someone's shed  ;)

There was a truckload of italian craft brew that was stolen in the UK recently.

Really scarce stuff, imperial strength etc.

They were warning people to be on the lookout for it to be sold as wine.

I bought a playstation 3 controller in HMV just before they shut down a while back. It's the only playstation controller I have ever had that has had issues. A few things broke on it, then it packed in completely and stopped working. I tested another battery in it, no go.

Now, I'm not sure, but I reckon that HMV were buying good quality knock-offs cos they were in financial trouble and were not checking their dealers as scrupulously as usual, knew they were going under anyway and didn't care.

I'm not really levelling an accusation here as I can't be sure it's a knockoff, it looks perfect, but for multiple things to have gone wrong on a controller which is usually pretty bombproof seems a bit off to say the least.

Yeah you think your safe when its a recognized high street brand you are dealing with. A wine expert on the show was saying he thinks for wine its very widespread, but since people's knowledge of what they should be tasting is limited, punters just think they don't like the wine and down the sink it goes. I suppose the horsemeat scandal of recent times also highlights you never know whats in the product.

Moral of the story, if you want to be sure, brew it yourself!  :)
