Blonde Ale Suggestions?

Howya lads,

I'm looking for some suggestions for a blonde ale recipe. The intended audience are fairly conservative drinkers who normally drink lager and aren't mad into the American hoppy thing.

I'm thinking Maris Otter, wheat malt, small addition of CaraMalt and hopping with something like EKG or Northern Brewer. Yeast will be US-05.

I've got some Hersbrucker hops that I'd like to use, but I'm unsure about using these in a blonde ale. I'm planning to include a small addition of Cascade at zero minutes, to steer them in the right direction!

Would love to hear your suggestions.

Recently I've brewed a nice blond (us-05 with cascade).

Try out some commercial brewed golden ales,and then this will give you an idea of what your after. A favourite of mine forthis type is "St Peters organic ale",you can get it in Tesco.

I'm going to make this one in a few weeks. The audience is very conservative so I feel this one will be suitable given its popularity on that forum.

That's a tasty looking brew,I will try this myself when I finally get back to brewing. Just a note that this is american measurements,and needs to be converted to proper measurements.

You make it sound boring,but a good blond ale is really nice to drink.

Ta for the comments lads. I'm actually tring to avoid English yeast altogether for this one as I already have a mild and couple of bitters on the go. So the US-05 it has to be.

Is the idea of using Hersbrucker in a beer like this a bit mad? It's normally used in lagers isn't it?

Not really,the malt bill you use will bring an ale taste. Saaz hops are considered as a lager hop,but dont tell that to the Galway Hooker brewers,as it is used in that beer.
